Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a Stringscape?
- A Stringscape is a portrait made from a single continuous thread wound between hundreds of nails on a circular frame, rendered in black and white. The image emerges purely from the overlapping lines of thread, so every piece is unique.
- Can I order a custom piece from my own photo?
- Yes. Head to the generator, upload your photo, tune the pattern, then place your order. The nail sequence we generate becomes the production spec for your piece.
- How long does production take?
- Every piece is strung by hand to order, so production takes time. Most custom pieces ship within 2–3 weeks of your payment confirmation; premade pieces from the shop usually ship within 3–5 business days. You'll receive an email with tracking when your piece leaves the studio.
- What materials are used?
- Black thread on a 3D printed plastic circular frame, 3ft (270 pegs) in diameter. Each piece is strung from a single continuous strand.
- Can I return a custom piece?
- Because each custom Stringscape is made specifically to your design, we are unable to accept returns on custom pieces. If your piece arrives damaged, contact us and we'll make it right. And if the strings become damaged down the road, ship us your frame and we'll restring it for the cost of shipping.
- What payment methods do you accept?
- We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. Payments are processed securely.
- Is my photo kept after the piece is made?
- Your uploaded photo and generated pattern are kept only as long as needed to produce your order. We do not use your image for any other purpose.
